Mixing the new single “How do you heal?”
At the end of the day, it's about creating something unique and special that captures the emotion in your song. I hope that “How Do You Heal?” does just that.
Being an indie musician also means learning how to use your resources to the best of your ability. I don't have the money to buy expensive gear or the time to dedicate to it full time, as I also have to maintain a second job. But necessity is the mother of invention, and learning how to make the most of my possibilities has always helped me along the way.
In particular, learning how to DIY record and mix my own songs after writing and arranging them is sometimes not an easy process, but it is a rewarding one.
Knowing/deciding when something is finished is more like knowing when to let go, when something is mature enough to meet the world. There is no sense in being a perfectionist. Learning how to use the basic tools and getting better at them is key. I was never a fan of specialists. “Errors” also make something unique. I try to make something sound the way I imagine it with what I have at my disposal.
My new single, “How Do You Heal?”, has this. I think the most important thing when mixing is to create something that sounds good to you and to the listener. You have to be willing to take risks, experiment, and take feedback from others. It's a balance between being creative and pushing yourself to get the best results.
At the end of the day, it's about creating something unique and special that captures the emotion in your song. I hope that “How Do You Heal?” does just that.
I'm excited to share my song with the world and hope it will connect with people and bring them comfort. I believe that if you put in the time and effort, you can create something special, no matter what resources you have.
